Communication update regarding COVID-19

25th March 2020

The Church continues to be alive and active, but our buildings must close

We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people falling sick with COVID-19. We must distance ourselves from one another and prevent the spread of infection in order to save lives.

Therefore, as well as public worship being suspended, this and all church buildings in the Church of England are now closed.

Our worship of God and our care for each other continue but cannot be done in this building.

Our website contains details of how to join others online for prayer, worship, study, and community life.

The vicar/churchwardens of this church can be contacted in an emergency by telephoning:

Karen Mitchell (Area Dean) 07834 322943

Cathy Juniper (Churchwarden) 01329 313408

Richard Evans (Churchwarden) 07766 903377

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength . . . Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

To protect the vulnerable amongst us, please do not leave your home except for essential trips.

Music at Rowner Parish Church

We are very fortunate to have a robed choir to help lead our Sunday worship here. They are also available to sing at weddings or at other venues as required.
The Choir meets for practices on Wednesdays during term time at 6pm in Church.  We prefer choristers to be at least 9 years old when they join, but we can make exceptions.

For more information on joining the Choir, or if you would like the choir to be involved with your wedding or other event contact our Organist who will be pleased to help you.
The choir is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and is trained using the RSCM 'Voice for Life' scheme, choristers are awarded medals with coloured ribbons to mark their achievement at each level.  There are also further opportunities to gain awards at bronze, silver, and Gold after taking an external examination.  New members are always welcome and there are many opportunities for willing organists/pianists.
In April 2012 the parish replaced the existing electronic organ with a state of the art digital 3-manual instrument built by Wyvern Organs Ltd.  We have music at all of our major services as well as additional carol services and special occasions.

Our Organist Alison Warne is available either after the Parish Mass on Sundays or by making contact with the parish office; should you need to talk about music for weddings, funerals, or if you are interested in joining the choir or learning the piano or organ.
We have a Yamaha grand piano, which is also used in accompaniment, concerts and for teaching.
